Golan's Moving Tips - 3 Techniques to Help You Move Your Valuables

golan's moving

Books can be tossed inside moving boxes with little to no problem at all, but seriously, don't do it. You can, but don't. But what about fine china? Or that precious vase bought in an auction that's currently sitting at the top of a corner table? Would you fling that inside one of the moving boxes as well? Definitely not!

If your moving consists of an over-active child running around the place, then you may have to keep tabs on the valuables that you have - especially the ones that can actually break into a thousand tiny pieces. Save these items by following these priceless techniques for the upcoming move.

Document everything

Create an inventory or a checklist on the items that you put inside the boxes. Each book that you toss inside the boxes (again, seriously, don't just throw them) should be logged as an entry. This may seem tedious for you and time consuming, but at the very least you won't wonder where it went when you arrive at your new home. This goes double for your precious china collection.

Get extra hands

Hands as in help (but you already know that, right?).

For instance, if you have a grand piano that you want lifted inside a moving truck, can you lift the grand instrument by yourself? If you can, then, Wow! You're pretty strong. If you can't, then getting extra help should be advised.

You can call your son, the neighbor kid, or even professionals to assist you. For instance, Golan's Moving & Storage has strong movers to assist with all kinds of lifting for relocating purposes.

Stack dishes vertically

It is common practice that whenever we wash dishes, we stack them horizontally when we're done washing them. Do not do the same when you're packing them inside boxes.

Instead of placing them inside horizontally, do so like you would pack records. Vertically packing them assures that they won't jiggle around the box as much as when they are placed on top of each other. Also, it will lessen the chances of them bumping into each other as much (so there's less chances of scratches to happen).

But to make sure, separate each plate with special packing paper. You can never be too careful now.

You can never be too careful when packing in your valuables, especially the ones that can break easily. To get the right kind of assistance, get in touch with Golan's Movers today.
